Magnolia
Available for Acquisition
Commercial Estimating Software · v1.0.0

Estimating for API 650 field-erected steel storage tanks.

Magnolia turns tank geometry, vendor quotes, or engineering data into a complete, itemized bid — and prints a line-by-line calculation receipt for every number. Deterministic, auditable, and covered by 1,000 automated tests.

A guided walkthrough of the product, the three estimating modes, and what's included in the sale.

The product

Estimating logic moved out of a fragile spreadsheet and into tested software.

Most bids for large field-erected tanks are built in sprawling private spreadsheets — hard to audit, easy to break, and tied to one or two people. Magnolia applies one consistent, calibrated methodology to every estimate, separates the calculation engine from the interface, and exposes the full calculation trail so any figure can be inspected and explained. It runs as a self-contained browser application on a single machine, with no external services or database required.

One engine, three modes

The same deterministic engine, matched to the data you have.

Budget

Geometry only

Prices a fast estimate from tank geometry alone, using the calibrated productivity, labor, equipment, and freight models.

Competitive

Quotes + full financials

Layers vendor and subcontractor quotes, crew and equipment selection, and the full financial stack — overhead, SG&A, contingency, and profit — on top of the geometry baseline.

Sapien

Engineering data

Prices directly from a tank's engineering bill of materials and weld report, injecting real weights and weld productivity and pinning each value to its source.

Why it holds up

Every number is traceable, testable, and defensible.

Auditable by design

Each value shows its label, formula, inputs, and result — a line-by-line receipt a reviewer can follow end to end.

Deterministic engine

The same inputs produce the same priced estimate every time, from a shared calculation library independent of the browser.

Completeness guardrail

The final sell price stays blank until the estimate contains everything needed to price it — and a confidence indicator flags internal inconsistencies.

Full financial stack

Overhead absorption, SG&A, contingency, and profit assemble on top of the technical estimate, with profit-scenario views.

Calibrated methodology

Productivity, labor, equipment, and financial models are tuned against anonymized outcomes from completed projects.

New build, repair, or rebuild

One workflow prices new construction, repair, or demolish-and-rebuild work, with print-friendly HTML and CSV export.
